The Teltonika RUTM20 is a compact industrial-grade 5G router intended for professional IoT and M2M applications where physical space, power flexibility, and network resilience are key design considerations. It forms part of Teltonika’s RUTM series and is positioned as a smaller alternative to full-size 5G routers while retaining core industrial features.
The router supports 5G Sub-6 GHz connectivity in both Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) modes, with automatic fallback to 4G LTE Cat 19 and 3G networks. This ensures compatibility across mixed-generation mobile networks and makes the RUTM20 suitable for long-lifecycle deployments where network availability may vary by region.
For network resilience, the RUTM20 includes two physical Mini-SIM (2FF) slots and an integrated eSIM. The SIM architecture supports automatic switching based on conditions such as signal quality, roaming status, data limits, or network failure. The eSIM allows remote provisioning of carrier profiles, enabling network changes without physical access to the device.
A defining characteristic of the RUTM20 is its Active PoE capability. The router can be powered via PoE input on the WAN port and can supply power to an external device via PoE output on the LAN port, reducing the need for additional power supplies in compact installations. An industrial DC power connector supporting a wide 9–50 VDC input range is also provided.
The device features four SMA connectors for cellular antennas and two RP-SMA connectors for Wi-Fi, supporting proper multi-antenna configurations for 5G and LTE deployments. Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) provides local wireless access for commissioning, maintenance, or small on-site networks, while Gigabit Ethernet WAN and LAN ports support wired connectivity.
The RUTM20 runs RutOS, Teltonika’s Linux-based operating system designed for industrial networking. RutOS includes advanced routing, firewalling, VPN support, IPv4 and IPv6 networking, monitoring tools, and remote management capabilities, allowing the router to be integrated into secure and centrally managed infrastructures.
Typical applications for the RUTM20 include CCTV communications, retail and temporary connectivity, industrial automation, smart city infrastructure, and transport-related systems. Its compact form factor and flexible power options make it suitable for deployments where larger routers are impractical.
The RUTM20 can be managed using the Teltonika RMS Platform.
